Is this move away from ammo and gun sales politically motivated, or is it something simpler?
We’ve recently heard that, in the wake of a mass shooting in Texas, Walmart has announced that they intend to stop selling handguns in Alaska (the only state in which they still sell them) as well as a wide range of ammunition, and additionally has changed their open-carry policy. Given the recent antics of other large national retailers–like Dick’s flaccid take on the Second Amendment–the first question American gun owners have is whether this is a politically motivated decision. The second question would be what, if anything, we can do about it. What’s interesting is that, despite the timing of this announcement, there are some fairly compelling reasons to think that this has little to do with politics…and everything to do with money.
The most salient thing to know about Walmart is that it did not become a retailing colossus by making politically motivated decisions. They’ve regally ignored decades of complaints about how the opening of a Walmart on the outskirts of any given town means that the downtown will be a deserted wasteland within two years. They’ve been unmoved by complaints of all sorts of borderline labor abuses. What’s more, Walmart makes no decisions without first carefully examining the ramifications from every angle. This is a company that has efficiency experts who design the way their trucks are loaded down to the last square inch of space to maximize profit. If they have chosen to stop selling certain items, they’ve done it for no reason other than that they aren’t making (what they feel) is enough money per square foot of floor space.
At this point, you may be asking yourself why, if this is not politically motivated, would Walmart they announce this decision now? And why would they follow it up with a change to their open-carry policy, requesting that customers not OC their self-defense guns even in states where it’s legal to do that? It’s this writer’s opinion that Walmart has long since carried out their studies about how much money their gun-sales section makes versus how much it could make if they were selling something else. Think about it: An organization that massive, with that many stores and so much infrastructure in place to keep those stores stocked, couldn’t possibly have come to this decision in the 72 hours or so that separated the most recent shooting and the Walmart announcement.
That doesn’t mean that the timing is an accident. Combined with the change to the Walmart open-carry policy–which up until now has simply mirrored state and local laws–this was definitely intended to send a message. That message, in this writer’s opinion, is as follows: “We would like to have our cake and eat it, too.” Since the decision was most likely already made, capitalizing on it in the wake of a mass shooting allows for massive amounts of free publicity as well as a nice politically correct sop to gun banners.
But why would Walmart ignore the rights and desires of rural Second Amendment supporters, a core part of their customer base? Well, they know quite well that those people will often have little choice but to shop at Walmart no matter how they feel about the company. (Remember all those dead downtowns?)
So what are the leading pro-gun organizations saying? Well, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which represents the interests of the gun industry, had a fairly noncommittal comment:
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has always respected the right of companies in our industry to make business decisions that they feel are in the best interest of their business and customers. While we are disappointed by Walmart’s announcement today that it has decided to stop selling certain types of ammunitions used in a wide variety of firearms, along with discontinuing the sale of handguns in their Alaska stores, NSSF appreciates Walmart’s continuing commitment to America’s hunters and recreational target shooters and their equipment needs, as sportsmen and women represent tens of millions of responsible gun owners in this country.
The National Rifle Association, on the other hand, came out a bit more bellicose:
It is shameful to see Walmart succumb to the pressure of the anti-gun elites. Lines at Walmart will soon be replaced by lines at other retailers who are more supportive of America’s fundamental freedoms. The truth is Walmart’s actions today will not make us any safer. Rather than place the blame on the criminal, Walmart has chosen to victimize law-abiding Americans.
As customers, we can certainly choose to vote with our wallets, and many of us will do exactly that. However, for some of us, boycotting Walmart would mean driving an extra hour to get our shopping done. That’s a lot to ask. That said, we can also look at this as an opportunity to support local gun retailers with our dollars…although, sadly, our local gun stores probably won’t have people dressed like a melting mermaid waxwork to amuse us while we wait for our NICS check to go through.
Will this decision by Walmart change your shopping habits? Tell us in the comments!

We thought that wal mart was a big thing when it moved to our town over 30 years ago, But that was when Bill Walton was still living. Today wal mart is no more than a communist run business in America. If it were not for all the chineses products they sell they would have nothing at all to sell. Guess we can thank the Clintons for that with their NAFTA deals they made with everyone else that didn’t produce things in the USA. It never fails when I buy something from there most of the time it goes back because its almost always broken . I get so damn sick and tired of it,but it’s the same way everywhere you go nowadays. Everything is made from shit. It’s cheap it’s sorry as shit and almost gaurunteed to break with in hours after you get it home. We would be better off to just start from scratch and do it ourselves. As for guns I have never bought a gun from wal mart. Ammo I have bought but not on a regular basis. They did have some 5.56 ammo left so I did buy as much as I could of that(never can tell when you may need it to protect yourself from wal mart employees) but will buy on line from this time forward or local gun shop.

Why if it’s so bad are they going to sell what they have in stock??? It’s all about politics I’m done with Walmart. Be a business or run for office, you are playing the American people!bonesatcrete@msn.com

Not politically motivated? Are you kidding me?! Did you not see where Wal-Mart is planning on petitioning Congress and the WH for another assault weapons ban? Not politically motivated, my keister!
Pariah says
I only go to Wal-Mart maybe 3 or 4 times a year but when I was in there I’d pick up a box or two of ammo. Well my feelings are now zero visits to the Chinese junk store.

As a stockholder in WalMart, I am disgusted and totally disappointed at this childish, knee jerk, ostrich like reaction to events they didn’t have anything to do with. Has anyone determined whether ANY of these lunatic shooters actually purchased their ammunition or firearms from a WalMart store?
Anyone who desires to create mass murder will obtain their weapons and ammunition illegally. They wouldn’t use WalMart, Dicks or any retailer to buy their “Tools” of destruction.

EX Military Patriot/an Retired Law enforcement Officer: Walmart CEO and owners 0f this company doesn’t care what supporters of the 2nd amendment stand for and the democrats, and the anti 2A supporters also mothers against violence wanting to ban law abiding citizen their right to protect themselves that the constitution that our forefathers established in our constitutional rights. The rich get richer and the middle class stay the middle class. They will not pay their employees sick time for the first day they call off sick, also the don’t prosecute shoplifters for stealing merchandise, but will gladly fire a Walmart associate employee for trying to stop a shoplifter from stealing merchandise which results in higher cost for honest shoppers. Will buy ammo somewhere else the only thing i can say for all the anti 2A people are when the bad people come to hurt you or your family and law enforcement can’t get to you quick enough to save you, I bet you wished you didn’t support and pushed anti 2A right you better run and get a broom stick to save you family and your life. I served in the military for over 20 years and a gulf war veteran and a law enforcement Officer for over 19 1/2 years we always run to the threat to save people what are you going to do to save yourself from the bad people in the world. I read about Walmart’s decision to stop selling pistol ammo when the current inventory is out. I asked the salesperson at the Walmart across town what they are going to do about the ammo that is also used in both pistols and rifles; i.e. 22 cal, .357, .44/.44mag etc. Are they going to continue that? Of course he didn’t have the answer. I also used to purchase a lot of our ‘crap’ at Walmart, but over the years it has gotten more and more oriental in flavor. I also asked him if he stood up for the sportsmen at their meeting and surprisingly he said he did. He is a hunter and a shooter so I had to give him credit for that, but when big corporations make decisions like this one, they are bowing to leftist, liberal retards. I explained Walmart’s actions to my wife and she said “Well we wont be shopping there any more”. I read with interest the comments that some folks made concerning Open Carry. I personally don’t carry open as I believe it draws unwanted attention to the fact that you are armed. But I certainly respect the right to OC for those that choose to do so. I have seen some people who OC in our local Walmart and wonder just how much training they do or have done. I really don’t want anyone to know if I am armed or not. It is something that I, my wife and the good Lord only needs to know. Good comments overall, ok, now let’s boycot Wallmart. By the way, keep up the good work boycotting Dick’s (also Field and Stream, same company!) and Target.
David says
Walmart’s is a disgrace to America gun owners!they want gun owners to pay gunships outrageously high prices! They dont care about the poor who needs ammo to feed and protect their families!!
Kevin Irwin says
You may be right about Walmart having made this study and decision long ago and just waited for the most opportune moment to spring it on us (God forbid you should let a good tragedy go to waste).
However the jackass that did the shooting “notice I didn’t say the Gun that did the shooting” did not come into that particular Walmart and by the ammo and start shooting, he already had it in his possession.
could he have purchased it at a Walmart store absolutely;but how will we ever know for sure they most certainly won’t tell the general public where it was purchased from especially if it was not from a Walmart
To most of us this looks like a knee jerk reaction to the fear mongers who are trying to keep everyone scared and the CEO just caved to political correctness which I believe will be a big mistake in the long run one store may not hurt their bottom line but some 90 million of us are gun owners that can have a significant impact and I hope it does .
As for me I will never darken the door step of a Walmart again the CEO just crapped in his own lunch box I hope he likes crap sandwiches..
David says
We need to be careful we don’t end up on our own echo chamber, just like the lefties who were sure Hillary was going to win the last election.
I don’t shop at Walmart or Dicks (but I did shop at Golf Galaxy) and not because of any political leanings but just that I didn’t like shopping there at all. Target falls into that category too. I can’t speak for Dicks, but many people shop at Walmart because they have to, either for financial reason (they do have good prices, and many Americans are on very tight budgets) or logistical reasons (its the only game in town, or they can get all their needs met in a single place without driving all over tarnation).
“Buying American” sounds good and wanting to take $$$ away from anti-2A companies is all good too, but the reality is, we (pro-2A folks) don’t move the needle enough to make a difference anymore, which is very sad.
Look at Dicks. They took a beating but now are on the upswing, either because the outraged people are less outraged and simply started shopping there again, or they changed their product mix and brought in stuff that sold better than the gun and bullets they replaced. Either way, Dicks isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
The same will be the case with Walmart (unfortunately). Unlike Sears (I actually miss them because I liked my Craftsman tools), Walmart is too well run to crash and burn over this. They ran the numbers, know what hit they will take and are OK with that, along with getting in the good graces with the larger population (anti-2A).
They way we (pro-2A) win is making sure that no Democrat wins the White House in 2020, keep the majority in the Senate and get another seat on the Supreme Court (not wishing ill on anyone, but there is someone who is not likely to make it another 5 years…), The plus is also stacking the Federal Courts with conservative justices at the same time.
This is what winning will look like. All the Walmarts and Dicks can do what they want, If the above happens in 2020, we (the pro-2A crowd) will be safe for at least the next couple of generations and the decisions of Walmart and Dicks won’t mean a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things.

It was convenient to purchase my ammo when I went grocery shopping, but there is a grocery store 50 yards from the “Farm and Feed” store, that carries all of my ammo needs. Looks like I have a new grocery store as it’s now more convenient to me, If I can’t buy the ammo I need at Walmart, why should I buy anything else there? It’s not like they are ‘made in USA’ friendly, anymore.
K.T. Locke says
Yep. If at all possible I will now shop at ANY OTHER retailer that sells the same products Walmart does. I spend about 2 grand a year just on groceries at Super Walmart.. Guess that money now goes into someone else’s bottom line. .

I have a “kitchen table” gun dealer within 1/2 mile of my home. He and I are neighbors and friends and I will simply buy what I want through him. As for ammo, handgun, rifle or shotgun, I can buy that online and it will be shipped to my door, Same goes for reloading supplies, tools, sheets, towels, electronics, etc. I no longer need WalMart. I never needed Dicks in the first place.

Goodbye walmart my family and I don’t need you. It is not our fault that a lunatic attacked people at your store and YOU had no security in place to keep shoppers safe. You do not represent us politically and your CEO (communist enactment official) and his attempt to destroy our constitution will not be forgotten. Hello Amazon.
Lawrence Greenberg says
One thing. Before you throw your support (or more support than you already do) to Amazon, I suggest you do some reading about the CEO of Amazon and his political leanings. You won’t be happy. I do not buy anything from Amazon specifically because of him.

I can’t say if I will completely stop shopping at Walmart but it will definitely be a lot less and as for as Dicks I haven’t set foot in it since they stop selling guns and ammunition, there’s nothing in there I want that I can’t fine at other locations.

Funny, they couldn’t protect the people in their store, and now they want us unarmed to shop there.

This does not effect me since I don’t shop at Wally World. I prefer spending my money at Mom and Pops type stores that support the local economy and the sales people treat you with respect and are actually helpful.
I always try to buy American made products first.
I do buy my ammo online as I buy in bulk every three months.
Gunner says
I went to wall mart last year and started to pick up a few things, I noticed that all of it was Chinese right down to the dog treats. I set the basket down and haven’t been back since.

These rich ilks think they should have the right to determine not only what we the people who pay their bills think, but what constitutional right we should have. It’s still a fact that stupid is free and this ceo Ilk at Walmart is proof.
I am voting for Walmart to go into chapter 13 by taking my shopping dollars to companies who believe in America, the 2nd amendment, the God given right of people to be safe in their persons, property, and lives while at Walmart or any place they choose to spend their dollars. I know many of us deplorables who no longer do business with dicks, levi, Nike and any other company that has turned trader

My wife and are 76 and 81, not in as good a shape as once and prime targets for assault or robbery in large parking lots. Chuck Kimberl says
I think Wally World has outlived their usefulness to me. I have noticed declining changes in the last couple of years at the WM I shop at. I think I’ve had enough. I also buy my ammo online. For the commenter above, thanks to our scumbag Congress we now have to pay sales tax for purchases made half way across the country.
Ronald Harden,Sr says
Goodbye Walmart. We got other choices.

I agree with everyone, It’s time for Walmart and dicks to realize we don’t need them they need us. I will not shop at ether store. I guess they forgot what happened to Miller beer in the 70’s when they supported gun control, for those that don’t know miller had a drastic drop in sales then reversed their stand on gun control. they spent a lot of years and money trying to get their business back.

This won’t change my shopping habits in the least … haven’t stepped foot in a walmart in months. Tired of the chinese crap which fill the shelves. Tired of miserable customer service, by ‘apparently underpaid and under appreciated employees … who just don’t give a damn. It is said that walmart’s great ammo prices caused it to sell 20% of all ammo in America. I have always gotten a better deal on my ammo at local mom and pop stores, who now may be able to profit on ammo, which has been a bit of a loss leader to increase sales. Ammo manufacturers may give them discounts, which have always been passed onto the consumer. I liked being able to open carry, which I think is safer for the stores, because they already have a heads up that you are armed. But Arizona has open carry and concealed carry … so it doesn’t make walmart less safe in Arizona. Just as many guns, but hidden from the variety of security. Though the beached whale in the photo accompanying this article, is a viable threat … to the retinas of everyone who has to chance upon seeing this abomination.
Lostriver says
No surprise since I read that G. Soros has purchased a portion of this Corporation. It’s an easy choice for me, I’ll not enter the place again. Never cared for the shlthole much anyway! They joined the list of “never agains” for me.

Even though I work at Walmart and get a discount, I no longer feel that I can shop there. I live in a small town, but I do have other options.
Mark Lund says
Walmart, the biggest store with nothing in it. If If you go there for something specific, good luck finding it. Meijer is a bit further drive, but I will now be making that trip.
TJ says
If the tariffs on Chinese imports are fully implemented, Wally world will have to make some tuff decisions, where will they get their goods to sale? America maybe? or will the stores become the desolate waste land like the small towns they created? to say the least it will be interesting to watch. What brilliant Business decision will Walmart make next, maybe they will announce that Rosy O’Donnell as there new spokes person.
WilliamB says
Walmart has created wastelands everywhere. Yes small town businesses have died accelerated deaths thanks to Walmart. Cities, though, also suffer. Walmart gets a built for them building and property lease, then in just a few years moves down the street to another built-to-suit lease, and their old properties just sit as eyesores and hangouts for drug dealers or illegal racing. The property owners are stuck, because apparently no one wants to move into a former Walmart store building…and there are fewer and fewer retailers large enough to use the space anyway. Ironic that the store that advertised its Made in USA policy is now almost an “outlet store” for the Peoples Republic of China!
SherryT says
You hit the nail on the head, William. The Walmart near my home did that very thing – moved out of a huge building into a newer, huger building. The original space sat empty for years, and now surprisingly enough, is occupied by a Coastal Ranch store. I still don’t know how they stay in business, but at least the building isn’t empty. In my humble opinion, property owners who build to lease for Walmart get what they deserve.

Jerry S. says
Rarely, if ever, bought ammo at Wally World. Better deals online and no state sales tax to cough up.
WilliamB says
Walmart used to be a quick stop for reasonably priced .45 acp. Large quantities I bought online. Have not generally shopped Walmart in years, even though it is a good place to walk around if you want to feel like a thin and trim person. 🙂 Walmart parking lots are famous for crime. Walmart has been on the decline for a while in many places. What Walmart did to small town businesses, Amazon has done to Walmart (plus Target and some other retail chains.)
As to online sales tax savings, that may be shortly coming to an end thanks to South Dakota v. Wayfair. Online businesses will start collecting sales tax even in states where they do not have nexus. Texas starts October 1, 2019. Any business or marketplace (marketplace is like Amazon stores and Ebay) that does $500,000 a year or more in Texas must start collecting sales tax effective that date.

You can bet the Walton family and their wealthy stock holders have private security, armed to the teeth, with the very ammunition and weapons they are now refusing to sell to average citizens.
It is their right to make such a poor choice and I suspect part of their decision was based on the wishes of their communist, Chinese masters.
I haven’t set foot in a Dicks’ Sporting Goods store since they went communist on us and now, Walmart can join them.

Show how much gun sales effected store sales.

Walmart doesn’t hate the second amendment, Walmart hates AMERICA. They are banding with the democrats to destroy this country and it’s citizens. Are they prepared for the lawsuits if and when a maniac murders shoppers in their gun free zone?

I seldom go into a Walmart due to the fact they kill small business and make serfs out of local folks. Walmart business practices aside I detest the atmosphere of all large retailers who profit from selling cheap garbage from China. Then there’s Amazon who will more than likely put a stake in Walmart’s heart eventually. Amazon however is even more despicable than Walmart.

Sam Walton used to hunt quail on my uncle’s farm. I knew him before he opened the first store and I used to buy my squirt guns and balsa wood airplanes directly from him in Bentonville. I have had Christmas dinner at his home. I am sorry I had no interest in retail back then or things might be different today. The old WalMart is long gone too. I hope the kids do good things with some of their monies but the stores are not making money off me anymore. We miss you Sam!

Whoa, this article completely ignores the 2nd part of the CEO’s statement wherein he goes on to say that they will pressure the White House for an “assault” weapons ban. That is political activism at it’s worst. Essentially the statement infers that Walmart believes that the 2nd amendment applies only to hunting and embraces the “do something” mentality.
Although they are much farther away, my wife and I have discussed shopping alternatives to spend our money elsewhere. Roughly $600 to $1k/mo. for household goods and groceries.
James says
If they plan on banning (assault weapons) they will need to ban anything that can cause bodily harm, such as knives, hammer’s, screwdrivers, knitting needles, etc. The people that have jump on this assault weapon ban are dumber than a box of rocks!!!

They haven’t stopped concealed carry they have “asked” for people to not open carry. To me that reduces the shooters option and makes them more obvious. I’ve also heard they back off and are leaving it up to the managers decision. If that is true, I don’t see any change in rural stores, in the cities, it might. These remarks I’ve read tell me a lot of people are showing the same level of tolerance, as the tolerant liberals.

Immediately my email inquiry was responded to with a lengthy explanation as to their reasoning. I replied to confirm my cancelling my account. I’m done with Walmart.

When a company with reportedly 20% of ammunition sales wants to voluntarily reduce that number to 6% it is politics. When a company lobbies the White House for the reduction of the Bill of Rights this is politics. When a company decides to take a political position, it’s pure politics. Wal-Mart aggressively pursue profit in every dept in those stores so why would they seek a reduction in this dept..politics. Liberalism destroys everything it comes in contact with, I suspect we’ll see Wal-Mart start closing underperforming stores in the near future.

I would applaud Walmart (or anyone) that would take a step to actually deter crime. This notion of “doing something “, even if it is totally ineffective is a cancer on logical thought. Sadly , it is currently in vogue.
We all know this will have no effect on crime.
Very disappointed Walmart didn’t use the occasion to highlight real opportunities to reduce crime. I will do my best to not shop there, but there will be times it will be too costly or inconvenient that it won’t make sense.

I have other options for shopping. I have not, do not, and will not shop at Walmart. This is I believe a move laced with political ambitions. They would rather keep the local political liberal happy. I’m sure the liberal presidential candidates will praise Walmart for there decision. It may even encourage other retailers to do the same. I will not miss the local Walmart stores local stores unkept and understocked shelves. Yes I do have friends who have purchased there handgun ammo from Walmart instead of cabalas or gander mountain. Now they will have to consider other options. Good by Walmart.
Phil says
Only been in a Walmart 2 times in last year. Won’t go in at all anymore. Thet have made themselves a bigger target to those who don’t obey the law by becoming a gun free zone. Their actions will do little to stop violence committed by an individual with or without a gun. They would have done better to take a portion of the dollars earned thru those sales and donated to mental health efforts.

Walmart is not to big to fail, look at Sears, Penny’s and other big retailers that have been reduced dramatically. They are like the Democratic Party, “they know what’s good for us” . I have stopped buying at Dicks, Academy and will stop will limit my dealings at Walmart as well. Sorry they caved in to the political left. I don’t think the late Sam would be pleased with the current execs or their decisions. I’m not aware of anyone that blames any of they shooting on Walmart. Get a backbone and do what’s right , if Walmart feels that strong about guns stop selling them all together.
Jim Misaros says
You know, it makes perfect sense really because every wacko, felon, junky knows that Walmart is where you go to buy your ammo.
They only did it to free up space for their new LBGQTZMKL lines of apparel, makeup, and how to books.
Besides, they are strictly a CHINESE COMPANY NOW, no American made products allowed.

Rural Tennessee chiming in—I stopped purchasing sporting goods at Walmart long ago; their ammo prices are hardly competitive; the selection is a crap shoot; and trying to find someone to open the cabinet is like the punch line of a bad joke. I’ve given up my Sam’s Club membership, as the only thing I need by the pallet these days is ammo, which online retailers like SGAMMO takes care of in spades. I try to shop local small businesses when I can, and this just serves as a reminder why that is so. Should I find myself in need of going to Walmart or any other retailer that denies my right to defend myself, I will be carrying regardless. The worst that can happen is for them to ask for me to leave, but they’ll never know anyway since I don’t open carry. I’ve ignored those silly signs for years, unless it’s a Federal building or courthouse… But I always take note to find a competitor when possible.

And again another backwards response to a. current problem. Restrictions on open carry will create another type of gun free zone. When good guys with guns are visible, bad guys with guns don’t show up. There isn’t enough police enough presence to dissuade public violence.
Grumpy says
I think part of it is also to keep the idiot that doesn’t know the difference between what a good guy carrying a firearm versus a bad guy carrying a firearm looks like & fears All Firearms.
There have been a few issues lately of a concerned citizen calling 911 on a legally carried firearm in view.
So they wish for those legally carrying to keep your firearm concealed and we all hope that you are nearby when the bad guy does show up.
Then again until the bad guy fires a shot, how do you know that he is actually a bad guy unless he shoots his mouth off first.
Danny Crawford says
Bad move Wally World,
I will not go in there anymore. If they was doing it for safety stop selling any and all ammo and firearms.

Virtue Signaling is all it is. Walmart, a company that single handedly destroyed and still destroys small businesses, barely pays their employees a livable wage, cuts hours to avoid paying benefits, the list of unbridled corporate greed policies they’ve pursued and still looking for new ones, so the Walton family can get richer still. It’s nothing but BS. Notice they’re not pulling the inventory and returning it to the manufacturer, but will sell it until they have no more. Why? If human life was so sacred to them, they would immediately stop selling it, but no they want as much profit as they can get before enacting this “Life Saving” policy change. They’re going to regret the decision. What would be nice is if companies like Ruger, Remington, Mossberg, Savage and all the other big name manufacturers refused to sell their products through Walmart. Will it happen? No, but I sure wish they’d threaten to pull their products at the very least, just to watch the bastards at Walmart backpeddle.

No change here, i doubt there are a lot of sales in alaska anyway. You can buy guns online now and just ship to a dealer so its basically another barns and noble product out of business.
Testshoot says
A person who was moving from Alaska to New Mexico contacted me to accept the guns he was sending from Alaska. I told him he didn’t need to use his AK FFL, but he talked to him and the FFL wanted $350/gun to do the transfer. That is worse than the $150 being charged in DC. If the “normal” FFLs are gouging like that, then having a mainstream retailer to buy through would be more affordable.
Anthony Romano says
I stopped going to WalMart when they changed the age to 21 to buy ammo and long guns. An 18 yr old can die for our country but can’t buy .22 ammo or a shotgun? This recent move cements my decision even more. Never WalMart!

Can anyone say “BOYCOTT” ?
Enrique says
NEVER EVER GOING TO WALMART. THEY CAN FUCK THEMSELVES.
Mel Hixson says
Here in rural America, Walmart is pretty much the only show in town for some purchases. Their gun and ammo prices are way higher than ammo or firearms I purchase online. Ammo is delivered to my doorstep anyway, and guns to my gun club FFL for $10 transfer fee. I never open carry and always carry concealed so the store’s policy changes have no effect on me at all. Not to mention that the local Walmart has clerks recruited from the living dead that are slow as Hell, hard to locate and know nothing about guns and ammo.

Already Ordered 5,000 22LR, and 2,000 5.56 from a local NC Gun seller. I have asked my wife to not go to Walmart anymore unless the items cannot be found ANYWHERE else. What Walmart has done is actually falling right in to the hands and target zone of any mentally Ill shooter by saying , NO GUNS HERE, Only Victims . That’s what I just don’t understand WHY? a “FEEL GOOD” measure that only increases the chances of another shooting happening would be customer friendly. ONLY and ONLY if we band together and simply stop shopping at Walmart’s and Sam’s club can we send the proper message. I spend a ton of money at Sam’s club each years as a small business. I will be switching to BJ’s from now on to purchase our Items. I was going to Sam’s this coming week and now I am not.
Larry says
If Walmart truly cared about saving lives, by not stocking/selling ammunition, then they should go “all in” and not stock alcohol and tobacco products that kill at least 10 times the amount of people each year.
Fred says
Don’t forget about knives:; since they kill more people yearly! Pull all the kitchen knives, tobacco, alcohol, processed foods and anything else that kills more people yearly than guns!
Wes Ussery says
That’s just 1 more item that moves me to shop elsewhere. Though I’ve not left Walmart entirely I’m estimating I’ve stopped 80% of my Walmart business. How many of you noticed the name change almost 2 years ago? Do you know why? The Walton kids and grandkids sold out. I have a very close friend that works for Walmart transportation and there has been multiple changes since the buy out. Do your part. Help Walmart become a memory. Take your business to somewhere that actually cares about you. Buy local
