Chicks Dig SCARs (Especially the 20S Precision Rifle)

“Oh, this? Picked it up in Malaysia in ’62, defending the honor of a mysterious dame.”
Fabrique Nationale just announced a new addition to their SCAR collection: the 20S precision rifle. Like all of the semi-automatic civilian-legal SCARS that FN fields, this new gun is based on FN’s military/LEO rifles with all of the bells and whistles that discerning armies and police forces demand (minus, of course, that third position on the selector switch). And the new 20S is based specifically on the MK20 SSR or Sniper Support Rifle, which is currently being used within USSOCOM…hence, we assume, the “S” in the new 20S. Designed for precision long-range accuracy, the new SCAR promises to be even more of a chick magnet than the 17S.
“That’s a bold claim, Trace,” you may be thinking, “especially given your commentary about gun reviews from yesterday.” And that’s why I’d like to make clear that I haven’t had a chance to test the 20S, but if it’s anything like the 17S, then I assure you that the babes simply won’t be able to keep from admiring it. The gun’s gentle recoil and adjustability does, in fact, make it quite ideal not just for women, but for anyone who loves to shoot. And the accuracy of the 17S is already eminently dig-able, so the increased accuracy promised is already making me want to put on my shiny shoes.
Early reports promise 1-MOA (minute of angle) accuracy to 100 yards with match-grade ammunition, right out of the box. The 20-inch, 1:12 twist, heavy profile barrel and barrel extension, and extended, monolithic receiver add the additional rigidity that reduces movement between shots, while the extended receiver provides rail space for high-powered optics. The custom-designed MK20 SSR buttstock adjusts to length of pull and comb height to customize the fit to each shooter while in the prone firing position, and the factory-installed, double-stage Geissele Super SCAR trigger offers a 3.5-4.5-pound trigger pull.
“The FN SCAR 20S is the latest addition to our battle-proven line-up of FN SCAR products and the first commercial SCAR release since we launched the 17S in 2010,” said Mark Cherpes, President and CEO for FN America, LLC. “Customers will notice that the FN SCAR 20S shares more commonalities than differences with the MK20 SSR and reaffirms our commitment to producing commercial versions of our iconic military firearms.”
