Baby Desert Eagle Pistols Hatched!

Congratulations…it’s a Desert Eagle!

The Magnum Research Desert Eagle is one of the most iconic pistols ever made, but some folks find its wingspan just a little too broad. That’s why, years ago, Magnum Research debuted a slightly more manageable version dubbed the Baby Eagle. As the first and second clutches hatches and found their wings, Magnum Research continued the innovation for which they are famous. Now, the Baby Eagle III pistols have hatched, and shooters everywhere are going to want one for their own “aviary.”

The Baby Eagle has been an icon of the shooting world since the introduction of its ancestor, the Jericho pistol, in the 1980s. The Baby Eagle III series is the latest revision of the Magnum Research imported handgun, manufactured in Israel by BUL Transmark. These boast the slimmest grip ever offered on a Baby Eagle handgun, making its double-stack frame easy to grip by any shooter. It also features a smoother profile than previous models, adding to the already sleek Baby Eagle appearance. Available in both steel and polymer frames, as well as your choice of full and compact sizes, enthusiasts will have plenty of choices and price points.

Look out, evildoers, this baby does bite…

Unlike the full-size Desert Eagles it calls parents, the Baby Eagle II is chambered in much more common self-defense calibers than the (admittedly hefty) .50-caliber chambering. The steel frame guns will be offered in 9mm and .45 ACP. Polymer framed models will also be available in 9mm and 40 S&W. Both steel and polymer guns will be offered in the full and semi-compact sizes.

Joby Goerges, Director of Manufacturing and Engineering with Magnum Research, stated that the Baby Eagle “..continues to be in high demand, and is very popular with fans. It is well known from appearances in popular movies, television shows, and video games. This gives the Baby Eagle a huge fan base, and in particular feeds big demand amongst younger shooters.” Like its big brother, the Desert Eagle, the Baby Eagle is an icon of both popular culture and the shooting community.

  1. Mine is a baby eagle II. Bought it a couple of years ago. All steel 3.93 in barrel 45acp. Came with 2 ten round mags and has polygonal rifling like the big desert eagle. I’ve put 700-800 rounds through it and never had any kind of problem. And very accurate.

  2. I have owned one in 40 S&W for many years. After over 11,000 rounds the firing pin broke. Sent it in, got fixed (about ~$175) works great. Before and after firing pin I have never had an issue. Five people who shot mine went on to buy their own. No complaints from any of them as far as I know.

  3. I bought two baby eagles one in 9 mm and one in .40 S & W. Got them before the II or III so they don’t have rails nut boy do the shoot. The only thing about them is trying to find a holster that fits. Big hassle. For now they are in Uncle Mike’s generic (what ever fits).
    Love the babies.

  4. Major problem for me and the reason I won’t buy it. The safety/decocker is located on the slide, Beretta 92 style. The slide/decocker needs to be located on the frame, similar to the 1911. Nice pistol but not for me.

  5. Hope it’s better than the first and second gen. baby eagle of the three I’ve had you couldn’t shoot more than 2 or 3 shots without a jam and it wasn’t the ammo, tried it all couldn’t find a single one that it liked

    1. Michael I have the first gen Eagle when it was imported by Magnum Research. I have never had a jam even with hollow points. All 9mm ammo feeds and fires reliably.

  6. I bought a Baby Eagle years ago, made by IMI (I think) probably late 80s. Over the years, it is always my go to pistol when at the range or training when other things break or not working right. Accurate, dependable, a very dangerous work horse. Probably my favorite semi auto, it is just too heavy to carry on a daily basis.

  7. 9mm? Please a 10mm would be more befitting a wonderful weapon. How many rounds per caliber? What is Barrel length? Details Please! Thanks Darrell
