Special FX: Ed Brown Launches FX2 1911 Pistol
It may be a Special FX, but there’s no Hollywood trickery here…
Connoisseurs of the 1911 have long known that the souped-up, custom-tuned, top-quality pistols made by Ed Brown perform so beautifully that it seems like computer-generated Hollywood magic. In the movie biz “special effects” are often called “FX,” but the new Ed Brown FX2 1911 pistol is 100% real. Although the FX2 shares some features with its predecessor (the FX, naturally), this is definitely a next-generation pistol.
To start with, this is just a beautiful handgun. Like the FX, the new Ed Brown FX2 1911s boast FX slide cuts, American flag serrations, and a recessed slide stop with serrated pin. The difference is that you’ll find these in a Commander Bobtail configuration, with Brown’s popular Snakeskin treatment. It’s finished out in Industrial stainless, for an edgy look, with black accents on the trigger and barrel bushing to tie nicely with the black G10 grips.
All about the optics
Next, we have the included Trijicon RMRcc, which is a brand-new product–a ruggedized mini reflex sight. Although this is a new optic, Trijicon’s famous quality and performance needs no introduction. Together with the Ed Brown designed co-witness rear sight and Ameri-glo orange front sight, the FX2 offers unmatched instant target acquisition. Sales and Marketing Director John May said, “We are proud to be teaming up with Trijicon with the launch of their new RMR®cc and no better platform for it than the FX2. This pistol was built with our customer in mind, giving them the highest quality 1911 with the highest quality carry optic available. If you haven’t checked out Ed Brown in a while, it’s time to look again.”
As with all Ed Brown and Fueled By Ed Brown handguns, the new Ed Brown FX2 1911 is all hand-built with fully machined parts, completely customizable and backed by the Industry’s best Lifetime Warranty. Available in 45 ACP or 9mm, the gun’s overall height is 6 inches (including the sight), with a seven-round magazine capacity. The .45-cal. FX2 weighs 41 ounces with an unloaded magazine inserted, so this CCW gun will require a little extra concealing…but we 1911 folks like it that way. MSRP $4,295.00 – $4,395.00 depending upon configuration; www.edbrown.com
