Aguila Brings the 5mm Rimfire Round Back
Something old has been made new again…
Aguila Ammunition recently announced that the long drought is over: They’re bringing the 5mm round back! Originally created for the Remington 5mm Rimfire Magnum rifle, the 5mm displayed great ballistic promise…but other ammunition manufacturers decided to discontinue manufacture back in 1982. Everyone thought the 5mm was pretty much a relic, until Aguila did a highly limited run of 5mm 26 years later, in 2008. They found, to their shock, that the ammunition disappeared off shelves instantly, as nostalgic gun owners pounced on the chance to shoot their old Remington 5mm guns again. Ever since, Aguila’s been working to ramp up another production run. Even better, it should be coming to dealers and stores near you right…about…now.
The new 5mm is a 30-grain, semi-jacketed hollowpoint with a 2200 FPS that meets Aguila Prime standards. The product will also feature the new Aguila rimfire packaging and will be available at an MSRP of $29.99 per box nationwide in January of 2019.
“Our customers have been asking, and patiently waiting for our 5mm to return to the market since our initial run in 2008,” states John Domolky, Director of Sales for TxAT/Aguila Ammo. “We’ve been working with our manufacturing facility to bring this round back to the States for the past two years and are happy to announce we’ve made it happen.”
