WATCH: Civil Unrest & Conflict Avoidance
We have had a lot of turmoil this year. This has included civil unrest over social issues and frustration related to the coronavirus and the restrictions put in place due to it. These have been stressors on the ideas of conflict avoidance and de-escalation.
CONFLICT AVOIDANCE: A FUNDAMENTAL OF SELF-DEFENSE
Within the self-defense community, conflict avoidance and de-escalation are among the most important self-defense concepts. Whenever possible, you should avoid conflict and de-escalate existing conflict. This is important even if you don’t carry a firearm — for example, we teach these concepts to our children. But when you carry a firearm, your responsibility to avoid conflict rises to another level, because any time you get into a conflict, there is at least one lethal tool in the mix.
CAUSES OF CONFLICT
If you have strong feelings about an issue and feel the need to jump into an existing argument, this is the opposite of conflict avoidance, and you are potentially becoming part of the problem. Rob suggests avoiding these situations entirely, especially if you are a concealed carry holder.
On the other hand, if you want to protest and make your opinions known, you are free to do so. But attending an event where you are fairly certain there is going to be conflict, Rob suggests thinking twice about carrying a gun to such an event, or not going at all if there is a likelihood of rioting or other violence.

Good advice. But then this gets our collective perspective nowhere fast. In a time when the Left is attacking our communities, police, and some of our most vulnerable, we need to be more vocal, more organized, and more capable to counter these threats. Violent protesters are a significant threat displaying means and intent. The Democrat leadership is doing little to nothing to get these “organizations” in check, and they are leveraging them. China is heavily funding these groups: this funding needs to be cut off. At the same time Democrat leadership and their ignorant followers are using the unrest to further justify stealing away freedoms from law abiding citizens? What’s the solution? With biden in office what other choice do we have than to fight for the sovereignty of our protected rights to keep our most basic and fundamental rights that make us free citizens? I have seen good people all my life sit quietly out of fear and allow bullies to shit on them: at some point we have to face reality and see the DNC and these Chinese funded groups for what they are criminals, bullies, terrorists, and bad actors funded by state sponsors hell bent on destroying President Trump and moderate citizenry. They are moving in for the kill, this much is clear, and China Jo is not going to do a damn thing about it. China and their allies own social media and they are censoring it heavily, the only people who understand what’s going on are Chinese expats and similar who understand how evil the CCP is and their methods. Studying every genocide in the 20-21st century has led me to understand we need to speak up, share info, collaborate, and stand up bravely against tyranny before it takes a foothold. It is going to get a hell of a lot worse, if we don’t get real vocal, real organized, and real aggressive and preemptive to these threats. Obama spent two terms villifying far-right groups who did very little to nothing, and you can expect the same for China Jo.
In this day an age you can not be certain anywhere you go of being safe. I. Myself am 72 yrs old, and have COPD, and am undergoing chemo for cancer… I carry everywhere I legally can because my days of going hand to hand are long past.
As a hand to hand instructor told us( boot camp 1968) never go hand to hand as long as you have 1 round left in your weapon.
