Showdown! Kahr Arms S9 Vs. S&W M&P Shield
When TheFirearmGuy gets bored during quarantine, everyone wins (except for one of those guns above).
Whether you’ve been packing iron since the Cold War or are one of the millions of Americans who just decided that today is the day to become a gun owner, you always want the absolute best in personal protection for your money. After all, if you’re going to trust a gun with your life, the question of whether you’ve made the best choice for yourself will always be at the back of your mind. That’s why, today, we’re featuring famous YouTube gun reviewer TheFirearmGuy and his head-to-head (er, muzzle-to-muzzle) comparison between the Kahr Arms S9 and the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. Both are extremely reliable and remarkably affordable purpose-built concealed-carry pistols…but only one of them can be the winner.
How does the Kahr compare in stiffness of the slide? Many reports of the M&P Shield were critical of the hand strength required to rack the slide, hence the recent release of the EZ variant.
I pick the Smith the Kahr has a reputation of unreliability
Have the same Shield and a CW9. Have carried both and trust both. Prefer grip and trigger on Shield, but don’t hesitate to carry CW.
I did own a Kahr CW45, but sold it because I liked others better. I did not like the texturing and my Shield 45, was softer shooting. The triggers are different on these guns, a long smooth stroke with the Kahrs and a short stroke and reset with the Shields. I have both a 1.0 and a 2.0 9mm Shield and the .45 Shield. All three of those were purchased for under $400 each. The .45 was a bargain, $365 with 5 magazines, two boxes of ammo and a reloading tool. I wish you had compared accuracy and split times to see if there were differences. I find the Shields to be soft shooting, accurate, ergonomic and reliable. Other than you liked your choice, was there a reason why? Your video wasn’t clear.
