Colorado Gun Vote Highlights America’s Latest Migrant Crisis: Californians

What is the worst, most destructive kind of immigrant coming to your state? Californians.

Just ask Colorado. Around the turn of the millennium, perspicacious Californians began to notice that their state had really high taxes and a remarkable amount of crime. Rather than demanding better of their leadership and/or voting in new leadership, Californians began quietly relocating to Colorado. Once there, they noticed that their refuge was just too … ugh … rednecky. So ignorant and unenlightened. What this Colorado place really needs, thought the Californian migrants, is more California in its Colorado.

Over time, as the liberal cities of Colorado gained demographic weight like Rosie O’Donnell in a room full of Ben & Jerry’s, they got their wish. The once-reliably gun-friendly state began passing more and more unconstitutional anti-gun measures. They also passed laws that defunded their police departments. Crime and taxes rose. The Californians of Colorado looked at this result and thought, You know what we need to fix this problem? More California!

Why do Californians do this? Well, the first thing you need to understand about them is that when their policies fail, they will never rethink–only double down. As far as they’re concerned, the principle cannot be wrong, just the execution. If it didn’t work the first 20 times, you just need to do it again, only harder this time. For example, let’s have a look at what Colofornia’s legislature decided to do on the very first day it reopened for 2025: Try to ban all semi-automatic firearms in the state.

Now here’s the scariest part, not just for Colorado, but for all of the Western states that respect the Second Amendment: You’re all about to get a massive wave of California migrants. No doubt you’ve read about the devastating fires happening in the Los Angeles region right now. Those fires are destroying thousands and thousands of homes. Many of those homes will never be rebuilt, in large part due to the fact that California’s construction and building codes are so tied up in red tape.

If history holds true, then the next thing that will happen after the Californians show up is that they’ll look at the place they escaped to for its low crime and cost of living, and immediately begin demanding–and voting for–laws that will turn their new home into California in no time at all. Californian emigrants are like a plague of locusts in that way, only smugger.

What should you do if you live in a Second Amendment-friendly state that’s about to be overrun with a flood of blue-haired, blue-voting blubbering bloviators? Well, short of building a wall all down the California state line (don’t tempt us), the best you can do is stay informed. Here’s what NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action noted. If you’re a resident of Colofornia, there’s a link below that you can use to register your displeasure with your state legislators.

Without skipping a beat, anti-gun legislators in Colorado introduced a near all-encompassing ban on semi-automatic firearms on the first day of the legislative session.

Senate Bill 25-003 bans so-called “specified semiautomatic firearms,” which are defined in the bill as “…a semiautomatic rifle or semiautomatic shotgun with a detachable magazine or a gas-operated semiautomatic handgun with a detachable magazine.” Semi-automatic firearms with detachable magazines have existed for well over a century, and these platforms certainly fit the definition of “in common use” set forth by the District of Columbia V. Heller decision.

SB 25-003 also creates a new definition for “rapid-fire device” and classifies rapid-fire devices as dangerous weapons, which are already prohibited under existing state law.

SB 25-003 poses a critical threat to the Second Amendment rights of all Coloradans. Please contact your legislators NOW and urge them to OPPOSE this unconstitutional bill!

With the 2025 legislative session not even a day old and a ban this drastic already proposed, we can anticipate anti-gun members of the General Assembly will continue their attacks on the Second Amendment. Please stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for future updates as the session progresses.
