ACTION ALERT: Rub Your Representative’s Nose in This Pile of Anti-2A “Law”

Chuck Schumer (D-NY) adds a rider to the bill

Today, we have an urgent action alert, coming to us courtesy of NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action:

It never fails: Within hours of a mass shooting, our nation’s anti-gun Congresscritters begin squeezing out knee-jerk, thought-free, and baldly anti-Constitutional bans and bills. In fact, they do it so quickly that one has to wonder if they’ve been crossing their legs and doing the “I-Gotta-Go Dance” for years, just waiting for a tragedy to exploit. (Spoiler alert: YES.) Thus it is that in under two months from the date of the Uvalde massacre we now find this pile of legislation steaming merrily in the dew. In this urgent missive from NRA-ILA, you’ll learn what’s wrong with these two bills and, best yet, what you can do about it right now. BAD REPRESENTATIVE! GET IN YOUR CRATE!

Yesterday, the U.S. House Judiciary Committee passed two egregious gun control bills, H.R. 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2021 and H.R. 2814, the Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act. It is highly likely that one or both of these bills could come up for a vote on the U.S. House floor in the coming days.

H.R. 1808, sponsored by Rep. David N. Cicilline (D-RI), suffers every major defect attributable to Congressional gun control legislation. Among its many provisions, the centerpiece of the bill is a sweeping ban on semi-automatic long guns (what it calls “assault weapons”), targeting what are in fact the most popular rifles in America today. The legislation would also ban standard-capacity magazines larger than 15 rounds (a marginal change from H.R. 1808’s original text to ban on magazines larger than 10 rounds).

This blatantly unconstitutional legislation would provide no appreciable benefit to public safety, while directly infringing on the rights of law-abiding Americans. Its most predictable effect would be to put the law on the side of predatory criminals and against ordinary people peaceably trying to live their lives.

H.R. 2814, sponsored by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), would completely repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (“PLCAA”) and would make firearm trace data maintained by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive (“ATF”) available to the public.

The PLCAA was enacted in 2005, with broad bipartisan support, to protect against frivolous and politically-motivated lawsuits aimed at bankrupting the American firearms industry, and, with it, destroying the right to keep and bear arms. The PLCAA prohibits lawsuits against the gun industry for the criminal misuse of their products by a third party. Suits against the industry for knowingly unlawful sales, negligent entrustment, and those predicated on traditional products liability grounds are still permitted. While it is often described as providing “extraordinary immunity” to the firearm industry, in fact, the PLCAA merely protects the firearm industry from attacks that attempt to expose it to extraordinary liability.

Additionally, H.R. 2814 would attack the firearms industry even further by seeking to allow the use of “gun trace information in civil proceedings”. The reality is such trace information is relatively useless for legitimate civil actions, and would be used merely for inflammatory and political purposes.

Again, there is a strong chance one or both of these bills will receive votes in the U.S. House in the coming days. Please take action today and respectfully ask your U.S. Representative to oppose this gun control legislation. If you click this link, it will take you directly to a page where you can contact YOUR representative personally.

I wonder how these nuts that have no job or means to buy these firearms ammo body armor suddenly out of No where they start murdering children. I’ve said all along that someone needs to follow the money. I suspect that it will end up a dead end because these people responsible have covered their tracks will. But it will also show that the money came from somewhere besides the nuts that are doing the murders..

The left wants a National Socialist government taking all guns away so they can control the people without interferance. That is what the 2nd Amendment is to stop.

David Cissywienie has always been a leftist jack ass (aren’t they all?). These bills like many things the democrats do are un-constitutional as can be. I would suggest that if for some reason a republican were to vote for either of these steaming piles of garbage that they be voted out in November. For those not running they should be removed from the planet. We know that the left has probably hundreds of un-constitutional bills sitting in filing cabinets just waiting for the right moments. I hope those that think that banning firearms of any type is a good idea need to be reminded that throughout history bans like this were only the start and what ultimately happened was that those citizens lost all their rights. Many ended up in prisons for uttering anti-government words they thought were innocuous.

“In fact, they do it so quickly that one has to wonder if they’ve been crossing their legs and doing the “I-Gotta-Go Dance” for years, just waiting for a tragedy to exploit.”

Call me whatever names you want, but there is often significant evidence (which is suppressed by the media and the authorities) that the shooter in these incidents was put up to doing it (nearly every mass shooter of the last 20 years was found to be on psychotropic drugs, which open the individual to suggestion). And over the last few months, the timing of these mass shootings has been just a little too convenient for those who would take away our Second Amendment rights.
