NRA Personal Protection Expo 2019: Can’t-Miss Self-Defense Seminars
Fewer than three weeks remain before the ribbon-cutting at the upcoming NRA Personal Protection Expo, set to take place Sept. 6-8, 2019 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Billed as the nation’s premier event for personal protection, concealed carry, and home defense products and education, this year will mark the first time the Expo–originally billed as the CarryGuard Expo–has been put on since the NRA’s contentious split with former PR agency Ackerman McQueen.
Today, the NRA announced their lineup of over 120 seminars and workshops at the Expo. Admission tickets run the gamut of $10 (for Life members), to $20 (for regular members), to $30 (for non-members). This admission ticket is valid for all three days and will provide showgoers access to a wide range of free seminars, training and educational content, as well as access to an expansive exhibit hall showcasing an array of personal defense and concealed-carry firearms and accessories.
There are further, more in-depth workshops available for an additional fee–anywhere from $25 to $75–ranging from 2-4 hours and designed to enhance self-defense and general preparedness skills. Some of those workshops include:
Tom Kier – Considered to be a subject matter expert by USSOCOM, he holds a Master Instructor rank in Sayoc Kali “The Art of the Blade” with over 27 years of training in the system. Kier presents a hands-on approach to the use and avoidance of combative edged weapons in his workshop, “Edged Weapons for Every Day Carry.”
Lt. Col. Dave Grossman – A US Army Ranger, paratrooper, and a former West Point Psychology Professor. In the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks he has written and spoken extensively on the terrorist threat. Grossman will speak about your role as an armed American citizen in the future challenges to our nation.
Paul R. Howe – A Military and Tactical Law Enforcement 20-year Army veteran and former Special Operations Team Leader and Instructor with combat experience in multiple venues, Howe will present a workshop on the “Combat Mindset,” encompassing the mental, physical, technical, tactical, and medical aspects of preparation for dealing with violent encounters.
Frank Mir – A former two-time UFC heavyweight champion, and current Bellator MMA heavyweight contender. He holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the future hall of famer is widely considered to be the greatest submission specialist in heavyweight history. Frank will conduct a hands-on workshop on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques for self-defense.
