Why Does the Media Ignore Armed-Citizen Stories?
Positive stories in which armed citizens lawfully defend themselves are missing from the legacy media…
Today, the Second Amendment Foundation‘s Alan Gottlieb has some questions for the mainstream media.

While the legacy media is quick to sensationalize every incident involving misuse of firearms, they just as quickly downplay or completely dismiss reports of lawful self-defense with firearms, and the Second Amendment Foundation is openly challenging the establishment press to explain why.
“Why are the gun prohibition lobby and their bought and paid for politicians and media mouth pieces ignoring stories like this,” wondered SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, after learning of a 12-year-old Louisiana boy’s recent heroic defense of his mother by using a hunting rifle to fatally shoot an armed intruder who was attacking her.
Gottlieb, who co-authored “Good Guys with Guns,” “Right to Carry” and “America Fights Back,” said cases of armed self-defense seem to vanish from the headlines. However, let a tragedy involving a firearm occur, and it becomes the launchpad for on-air interviews with gun control proponents, lengthy newspaper articles about past incidents and editorials demanding additional restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms.
“We’ve seen the media celebrate the heroics of private citizens who pull people out of crashed cars or burning buildings,” Gottlieb observed, “but if an armed citizen stops a restaurant gunman or kills a dangerous home invader, or even saves the life of a law enforcement officer, that story vanishes from the headlines quicker than coherency from a Joe Biden speech.
“We know from experience the gun prohibition lobby suddenly develops lockjaw every time a private citizen successfully uses a gun to save a life,” he continued, “and anti-gun politicians invariably dismiss such cases as ‘isolated incidents.’ But as municipal police agencies see their budgets cut, their morale sinking and their officers leaving, private citizens will increasingly be taking care of themselves and others. Eventually the media and politicians will no longer be able to downplay, dismiss or simply ignore such cases.
“Armed private citizen heroes, regardless of age, may not fit the media narrative,” Gottlieb concluded, “but they fit the American mold. Instead of sweeping such stories under the nearest rug, we should celebrate that fact that such courage exists, along with the fundamental right to keep and bear arms that allows people to be victors rather than victims.”
Why?… Because it doesn’t fit into their narrative of guns are bad. What about the bad people with hostile intent! That weapon is only a tool and cannot do a damn thing on it’s own. When was the last time you heard of a gun rampaging down the block killing folks on it’s own? You won’t because it can’t!

Please set up a Facebook page and ALL social media to exactly say what your stating here…. The media has little control over social media!!! Maybe just maybe you can get enough stories out there to convince at the very least some people to realize that a gun is no more than a tool … used correctly can do a tremendous amount of good and also when a bad guy uses it bad!
The gun community has, to this point, failed. We are and have been a divided faction for years. Between the “tactical/defense and the hunting/“Fudd” factions, nothing was done. Unfortunately , the Fudds has the NRA and thus, the power and cared only about their sports and weapons required for them. The Defensive faction has grown extensively over the last 10-15 years, thanks to both the sun setting of the 94 “Crime Bill” and Youtube! We now have the GAO, FAC and the 2A Foundation that ARE actual “no compromise” groups! Unlike the NRA that compromised on EVERYTHING! Their compromises were usually, “ok, you can ban these as long as you don’t come after OURS”! Thankfully they are now failing as people have woken up to their schemes of actually working with antigun politicians to push gun control so they could use fear mongering and scare tactics to get donations to fight bills that TNEY helped to creat!! Maybe it’s to late but we are at least now on the right path with ZERO compromises and not another single inch!!

Selecting the right weapon might have been random, as the only gun in the house. But an average hunting rifle, fired into the body, is game over nearly always!

Some things I really miss….My old dog, my old car, my old girlfriend and my old country. They were all made in America.
They don’t want the average sheeple to know or understand there are millions of legitimate uses for firearms other than hunting otherwise they would realize somebody was actually messing with a very visible constitutionally guaranteed right. The Bill of Rights should be viewed as a dictionary of specific unalienable rights but that amendments 9 and 10 recognize it is not an all-inclusive list.
Correct! The Bill Of Rights didn’t mention hunting because that was how most men were feeding their families at the time. Roght on with the 9A which states the our rights wre not limited to the ones listed and the 10A that prohibits Congress from doing anything not specifically in the Constitution. Both are violated almost at will and Congress defies us to do anything about it.
We can’t have socialism when law abiding citizens own firearms. So the press and polititions have to always downplay good things with firearms.

The lefties always recite “root causes” of this and that. The “root cause” of their gun grabbing attempts has, and always will be complete control, to advance Socialism/ Marxism/Communism by any means necessary. The history books are full of examples.
This is why, over the years, when I have used a firearm to stave off some badness, I NEVER call the cops. The media would ignore it or, even worse, change the story to make me look bad.
Seems that the cops don’t like it when we do their job. The first thing you hear is “We don’t want anyone playing the vigilante role, where people get hurt.” How about the citizen role, where people get hurt by criminals every day……

You can’t expect them to publish those cases. They NEVER will. They are data points to the contrary of everything the anti-2A people are trying to say. Quit banging your head on the wall and yell at Fox and other 2A friendly outlets to publish these cases!!!
We can have nothing that goes against the “guns are dangerous” narrative. How could our political overlords disarm us if the truth accidentally got out?
As Jeff Cooper used to say, “Of course, guns are dangerous. They’re supposed to be. They would be useless if they weren’t.” You meet danger with knowledge. The timid, servile and over-civilized may give in to system but they are the tyrant’s legitimate prey. Far too many law makers want that for us all.
All by design. If “THEY” (the media) don’t say it. Its just not true. The scariest part is….there are people that actually BELIEVE the main stream media….. People don’t use their heads to think with anymore.
I as a former police officer will say this, it is about time that the media and the politicians stay out of things that they have no idea of how to do the work. The politicians think that we no longer need the police but if you notice they travel in armored vehicles with armed guards that travel with them. They also think that a social worker can handle a situation that needs a trained officer to handle. It is time for politicians to do what they do best, go screw up the rest of the world and stay out of police work.
I can really simplify it for you, it simply doesn’t fit the narrative!! End of story.
Amen to that. We Americans have been protecting ourselves, our families and friends and even perfect strangers for over two centuries. The lamestream media doesn’t air or print these stories because it doesn’t fir their Democrap narrative. “Guns Bad”.

I propose that we immediately stop referring to the “media” as anything other than “The Propaganda Machine.” Let’s all get on the same page with this and ban the word “Media.” Hell, the progressive left bans words all the time. Have you noticed? We need to fight fire with fire and start a list of our own banned words and begin by calling a spade a spade. They are not the “media” they are “The Propaganda Machine.”

I am so happy he knew how to properly use the weapon and protect his family. I just feel bad for him having to relive that in his head for the rest of his life. I am glad they are all safe. That person got what they deserve.
To the left the narrative is everything and casting a positive light on guns is not something the left wants people to know about. They want you to think that guns are bad, period. The more misinformed people there are the better for the left. I’ve read thousands of stories about a “good guy with a gun” and they are inspiring to the idea of bearing arms. Leftists want you to think that guns are only good for one thing and that is killing people. I’ve been into shooting for 50 years when I got my first pellet gun. I’ve never used a gun to kill a person. Their other narrative is that the only reason we have the 2nd amendment is to go hunting. While some of the framers may have thought about hunting, the intent of the 2nd amendment was to have an armed populace to help against foreign invaders and to stop a government that has strayed from the Constitution such as the administration that was installed in January 2021. We need to get the word out about the truth and reason for the 2nd amendment and why democrats want to disarm America. It sure the hell isn’t about public safety as many of the things the left is doing today does not keep the public safe. Criminals yes but not the average law abiding citizen.
Since the majority of good guy with a gun cases never involve a shot fired, or the incident does not fit the guns bad narrative, the major media outlets, nor the anti gun crowd, will acknowledge it ever happens. While even the FBI and CDC numbers show crimes are deterred, or stopped by citizens with firearms much more often than crimes are committed with firearms.
Seldom does any pro gun story ever get past the local news or local papers. Even when the story does get wide spread coverage, the slant is that private citizens should not engage, but hide and wait for police to show up. After all, only trained government personnel should be allowed to be the arbiters of life or death. Or so says Mike Bloomberg.
Isn’t their mantra “if we can safe just ONE life, we must do this”?
Except the number of people who defend themselves and their loved ones with a gun every year is at least 100 times larger than those improperly shot by legal gun owners (and many of those cases are people who otherwise wouldn’t have guns if government wankers did their jobs and enforced existing laws)
So to help save all THOSE lives, it’s important to not let the gun grabbing lobby win – because ultimately they don’t give a damn about anyone’s lives, only their own power
Most people shot in the US are by already ILLEGALLY possessed guns by gangbangers, drug dealers, and criminals, and more gun laws aren’t going to stop them – anymore than the existing laws against murder do
