Giving Thanks $10,000+ Guns & Gear Giveaway
Real Avid’s Bore-Max Master Cleaning Kit and Mobile Workstation is an all-in-one portable system designed to make thorough firearm maintenance faster and more organized. The rugged case converts into a workstation with Gun Gripper technology that securely holds pistols, rifles, or shotguns, plus a Smart-Assist light for better visibility. Inside, the Bore-Max Speed Clean System supplies a three-piece Smart Rod, nickel-plated double-density brushes, Speed Jags, patches, picks, and a bore guide sized for common calibers from .22 to .45 pistol, .223/5.56 through .30/7.62 rifle, and 20- and 12-gauge shotgun.
Paired with it, the Smart-Torq is a precision torque driver built specifically for optics mounting and firearm assembly. It offers easy 1 inch-pound increments across a 10- to 70-inch-pound range, with Force Assist and clear audible/tactile feedback so users can hit manufacturer torque specs without overtightening rings or damaging aluminum scope tubes. Together, the two tools give shooters a practical way to both clean their firearms properly and install or service components with the exact torque needed for reliable, repeatable performance.

How Does the Bore-Max Mobile Workstation Hold the Gun?
The case is the stand. Real Avid builds locking yokes into the base, and its Gun Gripper design wraps those yokes around contoured barrels and handguards for what it calls easy one-handed securement, which leaves both hands free for the rod. Real Avid says the yokes hold firearms “of any size,” and the kit’s caliber list runs from rimfire pistols up to 12-gauge shotguns.
Two smaller details do a lot of the work. The lid lifts off and becomes a drip pan or a parts tray, so drips and small parts have a place to land. The Smart-Assist work light clips into any of the four corner docks and puts out 180 lumens on three settings, aimed at what Real Avid calls “dark, hard-to-see areas.”
What Is in the Bore-Max Speed Clean System?
Real Avid calls the bore tools its Speed Clean System. The brushes are nickel-plated and “double-density,” and Real Avid sizes the brushes and jags for “maximum bore contact,” which it says cuts cleaning time while improving how well each pass cleans. They run on a three-piece, 42-inch Smart Rod with an ultra-glide bearing, and the Smart-Fit Bore Guide gives the rod a secure fit and protects the bore during cleaning.
The rest of the kit covers what the rod cannot reach: Accu-Grip steel picks for corners and slots, Smart Brush brushes for actions and bolt faces, and a cleaning mat for parts. Real Avid’s page does not list solvent or oil in the kit, so plan on your own. For the order of operations, from unloading to the last wipe-down, Guns and Gadgets Daily’s step-by-step guide to cleaning a gun walks through it, and our gun cleaning schedule covers how often each gun needs it. Rifle owners heading to the field can pair this kit with Popular Outdoorsman’s field-to-bench rifle cleaning routine.
Why Use a Torque Limiter on Scope Rings and Action Screws?
Real Avid built the Smart-Torq for “consistent and accurate tightening of scope rings, mounts and action screws, preventing damage caused by over-tightening.” A torque limiter is how you hit the same number every time. The Smart-Torq is set from 15 to 65 inch-pounds in 1 inch-pound steps, the setting locks, and its “click-style” clutch slips with a feel and a sound you notice once the number is reached, so the screw stops where the spec says.
The X3 Driver handles the turning. It works as a 72-tooth ratchet for tight spots, a T-handle for quicker adjustments, and a plain screwdriver for fine control. The 12 bits cover the hex, Torx, Phillips and flat heads Real Avid lists for common gun and optics work, and the 1/4 in. hex-to-square adapter and 1/2 in. socket round it out. If you are mounting glass before a season, our guide to how to sight in a rifle scope starts with the same point: the rings and base go on at the maker’s torque spec before you fire a shot.
How the Two Real Avid Kits Work Together
Clean first, then torque. If a scope comes off or action screws come loose while you clean, every screw goes back to its spec afterward, and these two kits cover both halves of that job. The Bore-Max case holds the gun while you work, and Real Avid pitches the Smart-Torq kit’s soft case for use in the field, at the range or at home. Guns and Gadgets Daily has covered the Bore-Max workstation before, in our first look at the Bore-Max Master Cleaning Kit.
