Springfield Armory’s 911, introduced recently, was the company’s answer to the question: Can a 1911 be a truly concealable pocket pistol? Now, SA is answering a new question, and that question is: Can a 1911-style concealable pocket pistol be purchased for around $400? The answers to both questions, just in case you were wondering, are “yes” and “yes.” (Although we could have just used this picture of the 911 Alpha in .380, we suppose.)

The Springfield Armory 911 Alpha is a value-priced version of the wildly popular 911. Despite its budget MSRP of $429 (and, likely, available for less than that at your local dealer), this concealed-carry-ready pistol offers you the same quality and craftsmanship that you trust in Springfield Armory’s top-of-the-line guns. It’s available in Stainless or Black Nitride finishes, and will fit just as seamlessly into your CCW strategy as your 911 sidearm.
An optimized frame-to-slide-to-trigger guard relationship creates a uniquely comfortable, intuitive and accurate shooting experience for a pistol of its size. A crisp, short-reset, 5-pound, polymer trigger ensures a light yet responsive pull for reassuring precision, while the loaded chamber indicator provides a visual and tactile indicator of the guns condition.
The extended thumb safety encourages easy manipulation of the safety under life-threatening situations where fine motor skills can be compromised under stress. A fiber optic front sight and white, two-dot rear sight allows for quick and clear target acquisition.
To keep the gun invisible until needed, the frame measures 5.5 inches long and less then 4 inches high, with a smooth profile that’s undetectable under clothing. The new 911 Alpha is crafted of 7075 T6 anodized hard-coat aluminum—the same material used in combat-ready firearms like Springfield’s renowned SAINT™ AR-15 rifles and pistols. Cross Cannon polymer grips and vertical line texturing on the front strap and mainspring housing provide additional traction and a secure hold on the pistol.
The 2.7-inch, 416R stainless barrel gives this small gun amazing accuracy at greater than confrontation distance. A full-length guide rod with flat wire spring enhance control and soften recoil.

A shameless copy of the P238, but I like the price.

Why is the left hand shooter always left out. Try carrying that new wonder cocked and locked and then need it in a second. Yeah, go ahead and remove the safety in a smooth draw, Also use your left to hold the pistol and grab the slide and chamber check or just eject a round. I can see by the picture it MAY have a reversible mag release ???? I really think it wouldn’t be that hard to come up with a reasonable additional set of groves on the front of the slide, at least it could be checked from under with a cple fingers, if you were strong enough.
I haven’t bothered to even check if the pistol is allowed in the country of California. Probably not. Most manufactures have forgot about CA shooters.
I will keep my XD’s at least I can shoot them, even though they are the original version ( you won’t get the newer versions cleared for Ca either…..
I do like the way you continue to advertise to we in the far west and never mention “not available in CA”.
Thanks for the nice story and pictures …

It’s terrible! CA shooters and CCW holders are getting the shaft everytime.
I will be retiring in a few years and hope to drive around all over the states
and I am worried that places like CA will not be safe to drive to.
Only the criminals have the freedom to carry weapons in them red states.
Again, I am sorry that you must live in CA.

I have the original 911,and i absolutely love it,I paid right around $500 for it last year, and honestly it has become my favorite EDC,especially in summer time when shorts and T-shirts are the norm.I carry w/+Ps,which it handles perfectly and i have as much stopping power as possible. It is perfect w/the 7 rnd extended mag,the 6 rnd is OK but i prefer the better grip that the 7 rnd offers. For such an inexpensive pistol, the quality outshines many others, the trigger is tight and right, safety is easily used, round in chamber indicator is very nice, great sights.Being a 1911 lover, this lil guy fits the bill very nicely when carrying a full size or even a compact .45 is not feasible.Yes there are many nice .380s,but I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it,and when that happens I walk out with it,which I did.I will have to check this new variant out on my next visit to Williams in Davison Mi,which is an awesome long time supplier of weapons to us Mid State people.Honestly S/A has been putting out some very nice weapons lately, this is my third in 2 years,my TRP is my all time favorite EDC,but too big sometimes,my Mod 2 is also nice when you want extra firepower w/out a mag change,14 shots is a whole lotta fun, and very controllable, and then add in the 911 which can be a BUG or a main carry option and you’ve pretty much covered all the bases.Although I will check this option out,I honestly think I will probably get another 911 but w/the Viridian green laser grips.
Stay safe and stay armed.
