SIG SAUER’s P365 XL: Bigger, Thicker & More Fun

When SIG SAUER introduced their P365 pistol in January 2018, it raised the bar for concealed-carry striker-fired pistols everywhere, hitting the gun-sales charts at #1 with a bullet (so to speak). But SIG refuses to rest on their laurels, and has just released a brand-new version of the P365: the P365 XL. This big brother to the micro-compact original P365 is actually only .8/inch longer and .1/inch wider, so consumers will find that it’s just as easy to conceal…but it offers more ammo capacity (12+1 or even 15+1) as well as just that extra little bit of size to make it easier to shoot–particularly for those of us with larger hands.
The 9mm SIG SAUER P365 XL features the XSERIES P365 grip module with an integrated carry magwell and extended beavertail, a flat trigger with a 90-degree break, and a 3.7” barrel for increased accuracy while retaining concealability. The P365 XL also sports an optics-ready slide, compatible with the new SIG SAUER Electro-Optics ROMEOZero and RMSc Optics, comes equipped with X-RAY3 Day/Night sights, and ships with two 12-round magazines (15-round magazines available separately.)

SIG knocked it out of the park with the P365 XL! I love my P365, but it’s a snappy shooter for sure. With the longer slide and barrel, the P365 XL is a lot smoother! As a result, follow-up shots are a breeze with this handgun! Very controllable, even when going fast. I really like the extended beavertail, it helps me get a high, solid grip and the flat trigger is also more comfortable for me also. Plus it still fits in my Sticky holster as well! This is the carry handgun perfected as far as I’m concerned, and it works well with the 15-round mags. I just hope SIG releases a Coyote version soon so I can have that to go with my P365 NRA.

“Extea large micro”? Too funny! I own a Glock 43, 48 and several compact 9’s of similar size to a 19. The compacts tend to be to heavy and thick for ccw especially in the summer. The Glock 43 similar to a p365 is extremely concealable due to its weight and size. However, it’s snappy and follow up shots slower mainly due to its tiny grip surface. The Glock 48 much like the XL p365 is the perfect compromise for me. It weighs a little less than a comoact and is noticeably thinner. While it may not seem like much on paper it is. Moreover, the longer grip surface matters. Anyone that already owns a 43 or p365 should consider a higher capacity extended magazine. They can get a good idea of how much the extended grip effects shooting and ccw before making another purchase. Of course they could carry with the short and have an extended as back up:)
Well I have a P365 nra edition and no striker drag at all. I have only put 1,632 rounds through it so far but no striker drag.
Soooo … they made an Xtra Larger Micro pistol?? …. wait….what?
Are we all sure that we read it right!! “Extra Larger Micro pistol” Wouldn’t that make it a regular sized CCW pistol. I already have to many of them already.
So Sig hypes up the P365 which I bought based on its small size and large capacity magazines! This XL defeats the “purpose” of making the smaller version!
This tells me that Sig could not correct the firing pin primer drag on the smaller gun!
By the way, I have put at least 800 rounds including a variety of different of ammo and in spite of the “primer drag”, have not had a malfunction to date!
Is striker drag still a problem with the longer slide?
No, Striker drag on the P365 was fixed after the first few months.
No it wasn’t I have a 3rd gen P365 from October 2018 and I have severe striker drag. However, people claim that the P365 XL no longer exhibits striker drag
