Slick, Invisible, Deadly: Kimber’s Micro 9 Rapide (Black Ice)
Kimber’s Rapide (Black Ice) just got even more slippery…for the bad guy.
When Kimber released their 1911 Rapide (Black Ice), the world got a lot more slippery for the Bad Guys out there. Kimber, long a leader in creating high-end 1911 handguns, already knew they had a winner in the Rapide (Black Ice). Certainly, 1911 fans everywhere agreed, but the “gun guys” among us were already raising our hands and asking when they’d have it in a micro version. Today, Kimber answered with their new Micro 9 Rapide (Black Ice).
You’ll see on first glance that the Micro 9 Rapide (Black Ice) takes design cues from the its big brother, adding a new level of refinement and elegance to the Micro 9 lineup. Of course, as with all of Kimber’s Micro 9 offerings, it boasts the utmost in comfort, concealment and function. The Micro 9 Rapide (Black Ice) is chambered for the 9mm cartridge, but includes many of the beloved traits that continue to make the 1911 Rapide (Black Ice) an overwhelming success.
Features include stepped cocking serrations, slide lightening cuts for quicker lock time, a distinctive V-shaped patterned trigger, eye-catching two-tone KimPro finish, DLC coated barrel for extreme durability in any environment, flush-fitting magwell, and front strap featuring Kimber’s Stiplex pattern for a positive grip. All in all, it is a striking showpiece that’s built to perform, all in a size designed to be carried with confidence.
The Micro 9 Rapide rocks a stainless-steel, match-grade 3.15-inch barrel, enhanced with Tru-Glo TFX Pro day/night sights, black G10 grips and a premium aluminum trigger that breaks cleanly at a factory-set 7 pounds. Measuring 4.07 inches tall, 1.08 inches wide and 6.1 inches long, the gun has a minimal footprint but maintains the familiarity of the 1911 platform. The firearm’s weight is ideal for concealed carry at a mere 15.6 ounces, thanks to its lightweight aluminum frame. kimberamerica.com; MSRP: $879.00.
Kimber just a snob gun get a Beretta compact carry 16 rounds very good shooter less price
I bought a micro 9 in January of this ear and the finish started peeling off the lower. I contacted Kimber in October about it. They supposedly have a one year warrantee, but they made me pay for a new lower. I love how Kimbers shoot I also have a TLE and it is a great gun. The only thing is Kimber does not stick to their warrantee. Other than that I love Kimbers.
On one hand $879 seems a bit much to pay for a smaller sized 9mm carry gun. Then on the other hand as far as I know Kimber has never produced junk. All reports describe Kimber pistols as among the best you can buy, coming out of the box with almost all the custom features you would want, with the fit and finish you might expect from a high quality firearm customized to a fine work of art that functions as reliably and predictably as anything you have ever had experience with and well worth every penny you paid for it. I have owned a few and examined and fired a few more and have never been disappointed. They are fine tools that do the job they were built to do and even though the price tag may be a bit higher then other brands, you always get what you paid for and find yourself happy you spent a little more and bought something to be proud of. If anyone wants to know, no, I do not work for Kimber. I’m actually a retired machinist, so I may not be a firearm expert but I do know a bit about fit and function of fine machinery. Besides, anybody with common sense knows as soon as they pick up a Kimber, they are holding something above average. Thank you for bearing with me, I do tend to ramble on. Lastly, as it is the season, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!
