New President, New Precedent! U.S. Government Directly Supports Hawaiian Gun Owners

I made a map of Hawaii on my headboard after reading this news.
As it turns out, we didn’t need a Congressional bill for the Second Amendment to be given the respect it deserves. We just needed a new president.
Hawaii is unique among the 50 states in terms of its location, its history, and its apparent belief that it isn’t really one of the 50 states. This is the state that actually attempted to repeal the Second Amendment during Trump’s first term. Hawaii’s gun laws make New York’s look normal and sane, and that is really saying something. It’s one of the states that the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) recommended that new AG Pam Bondi look into. Clearly, she agrees.
We’re seeing something happen now that, as far as anyone can tell, has never happened before. CCRKBA has all the details, but before we give you the scoop, we’d like to thank CCRKBA for sponsoring our Extraordinary EDC $4K Gun & Gear Giveaway! CCRKBA CHEERS PRECEDENT-SETTING GOVโT AMICUS BRIEF IN HAWAII 2A CASE
In what may be the first time in history, the United States has filed anย amicus briefย with the U.S. Supreme Court in full support of petitioners in a case challenging the constitutionality of a state gun control law under the Second Amendment, and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms offers kudos to the Trump administration for making it happen.
The case is known asย Wolford v. Lopez, and it pits the State of Hawaii squarely against the Second Amendment. CCRKBAโs interest in this case is unique, as Hawaii is one of a dozen statesย suggested by the committeeย to Attorney General Pam Bondi for investigation by the Justice Departmentโs recently-announced Second Amendment Task Force.
โIt is cases like this which compelled the Citizens Committee to launch ourย online petitionย to A.G. Bondi, asking her to focus the Task Forceโs attention on Hawaii and eleven other states,โ said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. โAs the administrationโs brief details, Hawaiiโs Act 52 was defiantly passed in response to the Supreme Courtโs 2022ย Bruenย ruling, and is designed to essentially make the exercise of Second Amendment rights impossible in the Aloha State. No state can say it is above the Bill of Rights, and this is essentially what Hawaii is doing.โ
As noted in the governmentโs brief, which is submitted by Solicitor General D. John Sauer, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, Deputy Solicitor General Sarah M. Harris and Vivek Suri, assistant to the Solicitor General, Hawaii is one of five states which have adopted laws allowing private citizens to carry arms on private property only if the owner provides express permission to do so.
โThe scope and operation of Hawaiiโs default rule thus establish that the rule serves no legitimate objective and that it instead seeks simply to impede the carrying of firearms. That is plainly unconstitutional,โ the administrationโs brief states.
โWe could not have said it better,โ Gottlieb acknowledged. โCoincidentally, all five of the states mentioned in the brief, including Hawaii, are specifically named in our online petition. Weโre hoping the submission of this important amicus brief signals the beginning of the administrationโs promised effort to defend the Second Amendment from infringements enacted over the years by various states. It is time to end these blatant and deliberate constitutional violations, and we finally have an administration willing to accomplish that task.โ
