A Shooter’s Guide to Amazon Prime Day Deals

on

Here we are in the middle of summer, but for the next two days the weather is not the only thing that’s hot. Let’s take a look at some sizzling deals that we think our readers would enjoy. While Amazon does not specifically sell firearms or ammunition, they do sell some great gadgets, accessories, and tools that every 2A and outdoors enthusiast can enjoy.

Security:

Amazon’s house brand Ring has some killer deals, up to 50% off! Ring is best known for video doorbell cameras, but did you know they make other products? I use a whole home self-install security system from Ring that even offers monitoring services, but at a fraction of the price of the big security companies. It lets you comb through layers of security, from movement decision lights to cameras—with the capability to talk through. Don’t let the self-install thing scare you away; installation is simple (the hardest part was remembering the wifi password). I love being able to log into my home’s cameras from smart phones or tablets any time I want, or I can rely on notifications when things like people are detected. Take advantage of the summertime Black Friday prices to either start or expand your rings of security.

Range:

One essential range tool any shooter should have is a spotting scope. Have you ever tried to sight-in a scope at 100 yards or more, or to judge your groupings? Before my first spotting scope I felt like a chump having to call for a cold range, then taking the walk of shame downrange, just to get a close look of my group. A high-power spotting scope is a relief. With deals up to 26% off, Amazon has some great Celestron brand 18-55X power zooming scopes on sale. At 55 power you could practically see the hairs on the fly that landed on your target at a football field distance away!

Camping Comfort:

Ice chest coolers are so old school! All that maintenance, having to restock ice and drain the water out from melted ice…no thank you. Every Prime day, Amazon will have a variety of different 12-volt refrigerators at some killer prices. Depending on the model, some can not only act as either a fridge, freezer or both, but now they even have ice maker versions. Anyone who is off the grid will appreciate the ability to keep food fresh or frozen for as long as possible. Most will include apps that that allow you to set and monitor temperatures, including the capability of not running a car battery down if sitting for extended periods.

Safety:

A good vehicle escape tool is a great thing to have on hand especially if you live around water, like the Florida coastal ways. Accidents happen in a flash, and a vehicle can easily become submerged, a simple less than $7.00 tool gives you the advantage. RESQME makes an indispensable tool that I make sure to have on each of my keychains. At 21% off for Prime Day these RESQMEs are cheap enough to gift out to friends and family. These emergency car escape tools include a seatbelt cutter and window breaker all in one, made right here in the USA!

Trying to cut someone out of a seatbelt after an accident is dangerous, especially if the vehicle is overturned. Using the release buttons may not work, and an open blade knife can be dangerous. Instead, the RESQME has a hidden blade that you simply slide the seat belt in the guard, slicing the belt in one fell swoop with no chance of cutting or stabbing someone. Tool two is the glass breaker. No pounding at the glass necessary: The glass breaker uses a simple push-button action that can shatter the tempered side glass of vehicles. Acting like a center punch, it requires no strength or even room to use. Even a small child could use it and break the glass on the first try.

Prepping & Money Saving:

In today’s economy, having food spoil from freezer burn sucks. How about when you run into great deals on bulk foods, but you need to store it long term? Vacuum sealers have come down so much in price that they are affordable by just about anyone. But during these Amazon sales they are discounted even further, some up to 40% off.

When it comes to meats and freezers, most of us will buy and use zip-lock-type baggies. These fail far too often for the price they fetch. Now, when my family buys larger family packs of meat, we separate it down into individual dinners, then seal it up for the freezer. I love to pat things down like hamburger meat thinly in the vacuum bags, this makes storage easier, but thawing is also quicker. Do yourself a favor and get a discounted vacuum sealer and a roll of bag material while it’s on sale.

Flashlights:

Prime Day is perfect for stocking up on all of your illumination tool needs. Two of my favorite mini flashlights dip under $16, cheap enough to give away as gifts to friends and family. Oh by the way, these are for name brand, quality flashlights! Both Olight 13T and the Streamlight Stylus Pro are go-to workhorses that you probably didn’t know you needed in your life. Both use AAA batteries, and they are small enough and cheap enough to stash everywhere.

I keep multiples in the office, home, and family vehicles, since you never know when you will need a light. These are not tactical million-lumen sliding flashlights that will illuminate a whole football field but they are bright enough to allow you to clear a room.

Tools:

Real Avid is known for its high-speed DIY gear for the shooting community. The only thing that would make it better is when Amazon gives us a nice discount on things like the CORE multitool. About the size of a medium carabiner, this is a must-have tool for any AR15 owner. Think of it as like a Swiss Army knife of tools specifically for the AR15—with everything from a takedown punch to a bottle opener for the after range libations, the Real Avid Core tool will be there to make your life easier.

Get shopping! But only after I’ve finished filling my cart.
