MOAR .450 Bushmaster Awesomeness: Rock River Arms’ New Carbine
Whether you’re catching the Coronavirus hype or hoping to weather the Spanxpocalypse, everyone knows that one key to prepping is to keep your ammunition needs relegated to as few calibers as possible…and for some, that means a pistol-caliber carbine chambered in the same round as their handguns. In a choice bit of kismet, Rock River Arms, one of the industry’s most respected names in Modern Sporting Rifles and pistols, just introduced a new .450 Bushmaster carbine called the RRA LAR-15M just a few days after we highlighted a revolver in that very same caliber from Magnum Research, Inc.
Although the implications for home defenders are obvious, this new addition into RRA’s LAR lineup was developed as a modern hunting firearm with dominant short- to mid-range capabilities. The beefy caliber should work beautifully against big game, even tough-skinned animals like wild hogs. It uses straight wall cartridges that deliver the same 1-MOA accuracy that AR-15 fans have come to expect from Rock River.
The RRA LAR-15M features a 16-inch stainless-steel cryo-treated barrel with smooth rifling (1:24 twist) and equipped with an RRA Operator Brake. The RRA two-stage trigger provides a crisp break and is housed in the RRA winter trigger guard, allowing full dexterity while wearing gloves…perfect for hunters dealing with early-spring, late-fall, or dead-of-winter temperatures.
The RRA LAR-15M .450 Bushmaster comes standard with a six-position Operator CAR stock, overmolded A2 pistol grip, and 13-inch extended lightweight free-float handguard covering a low-profile gas block and mid-length gas system. The full-length top rail configuration fits all quality optic systems while the M-LOK compatibility provides for accessory attachments, such as a bipod and light source. A sturdy hard plastic, five-round polymer magazine, owner’s manual and warranty are included with the rifle.
With an MSRP of $1,100, this full-featured carbine might just be the next addition to your prepper’s cabinet…or just your next go-to hunting rifle.
