Old & Busted: All-Terrain Vehicles. New Hotness: All-Terrain Shotguns From CZ-USA

Have you ever noticed that some shotguns seem to have been (carefully and exquisitely, of course) designed just to look gorgeous in a safe? Don’t get me wrong; any dedicated gun collector has at least one “safe queen,” but they’re just not right for the rough-and-tumble of field use. That seems to be the motivation behind CZ-USA‘s recent announcement of their new All-Terrain series of shotguns.

The All-Terrains are visibly different from the usual “field” models; instead of a polymer stock, every gun in the line boasts high-quality walnut. Instead of bluing, every metallic surface features an OD Green Cerakote finish. But the changes aren’t just cosmetic; in fact, they’re earth-deep. Earth magnet-deep, that is. The line includes four break-barrel versions, and each of these features the most innovative addition to a field gun I’ve seen in a long time: earth magnets incorporated into the extractor/ejector. It’s genius–no more shells falling out, even if you have to hold it upside-down to cross that fence or stream. Likewise, the magnets make it easy to load the shotgun in a blind and prevent dropping shells when bending down to work with a dog.

Not all All-Terrain shotguns are break-barrels, though. In fact, the line incorporates many of CZ-USA’s popular existing shotguns, including the semi-auto 1012. Perfect for chasing every species from doves and ducks to turkey and grouse, the new All-Terrain Series includes the semi-auto 1012 and break barrel Bobwhite G2, Drake, Redhead Premier and Upland Ultralight models. The variety of the line doesn’t stop there, with guns available in 12- or 20-gauge variants, as well as 28- or 30-inch barrel lengths depending on model. the All-Terrain Series shotguns come with extended chokes and sling swivel studs.

The guns are available now, per CZ-USA. The MSRPs depend on which model you select, but they start as low as $690. We have more detail below…or visit cz-usa.com to learn more.

  1. A Mojo Pick Stick uses a magnet to pick up shotgun shells, so apparently part of the shell is not true brass.

  2. Don’t get the magnet thing? Shells are brass and have not seen a brass magnet yet that works! How does it holds the shells in place?
